Getaways to Fall in Love With: Valentine’s Day

Feb 14, 2025

It’s well known that in over 90 countries, February 14th is considered the MOST ROMANTIC DAY OF THE YEAR. Flowers, chocolates, greeting cards… everything flies off the shelves. And although traditions vary from one country to another, one thing remains the same: we all love to celebrate love.

Do you know why this holiday is celebrated?

Valentine, the saint who gave this celebration its name, lived in the 3rd century. He was a Roman priest during the reign of Emperor Claudius II, who secretly married young couples even though marriage was banned — the emperor believed single men made better soldiers.

When discovered, Valentine was arrested and executed on February 14th, in the year 270. Over time, this date was adopted by the Church to honor the saint and celebrate love.

Travel: The Best Way to Celebrate Love

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse for an unforgettable romantic getaway. Whether you’re an adventurous couple, culture lovers, or simply dream of a quiet corner, the world is full of dreamy destinations waiting to be discovered:

Verona, Italy: The city of Romeo and Juliet is the perfect backdrop for celebrating eternal love. Thousands of visitors leave love letters at Juliet’s House and join in special events.

Santorini, Greece: Sunsets over the Aegean Sea, white-washed houses, and dramatic cliffs create an unbeatable romantic postcard.

Bruges, Belgium: A less obvious but equally charming destination. Its canals and medieval architecture make it ideal for getting lost hand-in-hand.

Venice, Italy: With its canals, gondolas, and hidden alleyways, Venice is a dreamlike stage for romance.

Paris, France: Of course, we can’t leave out the City of Love. A walk through Montmartre, a kiss at the Eiffel Tower, or a cruise along the Seine make Paris a timeless classic.

Fun Fact: Few people know that the remains of Saint Valentine rest in Madrid, at the Church of San Antón. This temple, located right in the heart of the Spanish capital, holds an urn with his relics, making it a unique spot for lovers and curious travelers.

Valentine’s Day isn’t just a celebration of love — it’s also the perfect opportunity to explore the world as a couple. Whether you’re discovering a romantic nook or simply enjoying a dinner in a special place, any moment is a good one for a getaway. What matters most is creating unforgettable memories together.
